Thurs. Dec. 1, 2011 - Welcome Micaela Lynn!

Over the last few weeks we hiked miles and miles trying to get the overdue baby to move out. On Saturday we hiked to 2 Rocks at Lake Chabot.

Riley and Seamus love running around

We are very lucky that Riley enjoys riding in the backpack.

Chad put the tree in the stand and strung the lights while Riley was napping. Here is her first look at the pretty tree.

Riley and Mommy had a big job, putting all the ornaments on the tree

Its been a big week and I'm exhausted so I'm going to keep it short and let the pictures speak for themselves. Our baby was due Nov. 16 so we didn't expect to have a nice Thanksgiving dinner or cut down and decorate our tree. But since the little one arrived 12 days late we got it all done and enjoyed some quality time, just the 3 of us. Labor finally started on Sun. Nov. 27. We were lucky to have good friends who invited Riley over for a sleepover when Chad and I headed to the hospital. Our little girl arrived at 12:18 am Mon. Nov. 28. She weighed 7 lbs 13 oz (almost a full pound bigger than Riley, I guess she was making good use of her 12 extra days) and was 21 in long. She scored a 9 on her Apgar and is extremely healthy. It took a few days to choose her name but we finally decided on Micaela Lynn. Chad's middle name is Michael and mine is Lynn, so we thought this would be special. My recovery is going well and we are settling in at home. Chad is taking 3 weeks of paternity leave (actually 4 weeks, but it started the week of Thanksgiving so by the time Micaela was born we were down to 3) and I am so grateful to have him home with us. Riley is adjusting well. Not unexpectedly, she asks us to put down Micaela and hold her instead and is trying to find her boundaries with the newborn. She loves her little sister and is very excited to help out and hold her. We're all so very, very happy to finally meet the 4th member of our family!

  2. Thanks Sarah! We're thrilled to have 2 little girls, I hope they will be close. But, based on life with my sister, I'm sure there will be some fighting too.
