Thurs. Aug. 2, 2012 - playing outside

 Micaela is 35 weeks old!

 She loves to swing

 2 happy, swinging girls

 Riley's last ballet class

The girls performed a little routine for the parents (Riley chose to lay down rather than dance)

Micaela has discovered Seamus's food and water bowls and beelines towards them every chance she gets

 Flexibility during dinner

This week's art project is making a fairy house

I try to schedule painting during Micaela's naps but somehow she knows and always wakes up early so she can participate. Despite being on a separate blanket, she still ended up with paint all over (you can barely see the the yellow streak on her forehead)

Riley is also covered in paint

Micaela is very comfortable being carried in the wrap

Daddy helped cut windows into the fairy house

We signed up for a few "Fun Fridays" through the Parks and Rec department. The first one was soccer.

 Riley had a great time

 Everyone loves sidewalk chalk

These pictures are from our trip to the Appleton Children's Discovery Museum in early July

 Air traffic controller

 Artist

Cardiovascular surgeon (climbing up the tricuspid valve and sliding down the aorta)

 Civil engineer

And Fire fighter...busy day!

After weeks of upper 90's-100's and high humidity the temperatures have finally cooled down enough to enjoy more time outside. So we've been playing in the yard, going to parks and attending parks and rec activities. Its been so nice to be outside after 9 am!

Ballet ended this week. At the last class parents were invited into the studio to watch the routine the girls had been practicing. They did it a few times and Riley sat down the first time then laid down the second time and said, "I'm sleeping during ballet." I can't wait to show her this video when she is older. She was the youngest in the class and even though she really had fun, we're going to wait at least a session before we enroll her again. I am glad she had such a great time but she's just not ready to focus and follow instructions as required by this class.

We have started attending "Fun Fridays" through the parks and rec. Its a different activity every Friday. Our first one was soccer and Riley loved it. Her hour is limited to 3-4 year olds and the instructors did a great job of moving them through the skills and keeping their attention. Tomorrow is "Games Galore" I hope she has as much fun at that one.

Micaela acquired even more skills this week. She pulled herself to standing and started waving bye-bye. She is not sleeping very well right now, I'm guessing her little brain is in overdrive with all these new skills!

In early July we went to "The Building for Kids," a children's museum right here in Appleton (sorry, it took a long time to get those pictures off my phone). We were very impressed with all the exhibits and activities, this will be a nice refuge when we want to get out of the house during the winter. Just another thing that makes our new location family-friendly!
