Thurs. May 24, 2012 - Dada's girl is rollin'!

Micaela is 25 weeks old!

Kevin Barry, a friend from Clorox, visited with us after a business trip brought him to WI.

On Saturday we went to "Things that go!" These guys with the Packers bus were serious fans

The Appleton West HS mascot was one of Riley's favorites. This is Riley's future HS and we were very excited to discover that their colors are orange and blue!

Riley thought Uncle Darren might like this one

I was really impressed with the variety. In addition to the obvious firetrucks and cars, they had a UPS truck, a cement truck, an excavator, etc. The kids loved it!

We even rode in a horse-drawn carriage

Then we had a little picnic in the park

Summer means icecream!

Micaela has been rolling for months now, but had just rolled from front to back or vice versa. Now she's started putting them together and can travel around...and get stuck

We continue to explore the local parks, playing and picnicking. The WI spring weather has been wonderful so we've spent lots of time outside.

Micaela is so strong, she pulled down her playmat

Tummy time!

Micaela started on her playmate but rolled all the way across the room while Seamus watched

She's so proud of herself and her new ability

Our first CA visitor came this week. Kevin Barry, a friend from Clorox, had a business trip to Wisconsin and stopped by for a night when he was done working. It was great to catch up with him. Hopefully other friends will be able to work in a trip to our place, too. We miss our CA friends.

On Saturday the family went to "Things that go!" All kinds of, well, things that go, gathered in the park and let kids explore all the different modes of transportation. I was so impressed with all the volunteers who brought their trucks, cars, boats and busses to the park. It truly was a variety. We saw a firetruck, a cement truck, a UPS truck, motorcycles, cars, horses and a Packers fan bus. They provided a wonderful few hours for little kids.

We finally made it to story hour at the library this week. The energetic leader read stories and sang songs. Riley was pretty timid. She hadn't heard any of the songs before and it was obvious that many of the kids were regulars and knew all the words and motions. Afterwards she said, "It was fun but they sang the wrong songs." We had such great times with our friends at the library in CA, I'm sure we'll soon enjoy our new group.

Micaela is growing so fast. She has been rolling since she was 4 months old but just recently realized that she could roll over and over again to travel around. I cannot believe that she's not even 6 months old and can already get around. Her babbling has become more focused and yesterday she started saying, "Dada." Chad has been repeating Dada over and over again, he was thrilled that she said his name first. I guess I should have been focusing more on "Mama" instead of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and firetruck song, but oh well. I know it will come with time.

  1. This library friend from CA misses you guys too!

And, hmmm... both of my kids said "dada" first! I guess that's what we get by staying home with them, and when Dada gets home, we say "dada dada" and try to get them so excited to see dada (so we can pass them along to dada, haha!)
