Tristan is 48 weeks old!

 Logan is 48 weeks old!

We were invited stay at our friends' vacation home in Houghton, MI, on the upper peninsula. Their house is right on Portage Lake

Micaela, Logan, Pam (our hostess), Riley and Zoey dog

Chad, Tristan and Marty (our host)

Saturday was a gorgeous day for a hike along Lake Superior

 Snack break!

Running into Lake Superior

Running back out, that water is cold!

Tristan LOVED the water and didn't mind that it was cold at all. Logan quickly crawled away to the warm, dry sand and stayed there.

Wild Michigan blueberries!

This weekend we were very lucky to be invited to our friends' vacation home in Houghton, MI. Pam and Marty have twins who recently graduated from college and feel very sympathetic to the crazy early years when its so hard to get away and nearly impossible to stay in a hotel without the babies waking each other, their siblings and guests in all adjacent rooms. They have a great house right on Portage Lake. Even the weather cooperated so we enjoyed being able to play in the water without leaving the yard. The Upper Peninsula is beautiful and we drove all the way to the tip and enjoyed the sights and waters of Lake Superior. The water was very cold so it took the girls a while to go in very far and they never did submerge their heads. Logan wanted nothing to do with the cold water and crawled away as quickly as he could to play on the warm, dry sand (and eat it, yuck). Tristan LOVED the water. He kicked and played in it and didn't mind when a wave soaked him. More proof that these identical twins are very different little boys.

We really enjoyed our long weekend away. Its hard to find time to relax as a family and not worry about all the usual things...work, laundry, kids activities. It was nice to have some unplanned days to play on a playground, hike, or splash in water and soak in all the joy that our children give us.
