Wheeee!!!!!!!!
A little too fast
But loved it! (this may be my favorite series of pics ever)
I took a lot of pictures on our vacation so I'm going to break them up to make the posts a little more manageable. So here is the first of several.
Our flight to Orlando was a little painful. We woke up very early to catch the first flight out of Appleton just to be delayed and spend 6 hours in the Atlanta airport. We arrived at the Wilderness Lodge Resort hungry and exhausted and not happy travelers. When Chad started to help unload the car onto the cart and the bellman said, "Sir, let me do this, you are on vacation," I immediately felt like our vacation had begun (the Sierra Nevadas we had delivered with pizza to our room helped, too).
We had a great time at the Magic Kingdom. Micaela could ride everything Riley could ride, so we were able to enjoy everything as a family. Riley's favorite rides were the Carousel and Teacups. She loved meeting Mickey Mouse and watching the shows in front of the castle. Micaela took her morning naps in the carrier so we were able to stay until mid-afternoon when we all needed to return to the hotel and rest before going back for more in the evening. It was a blast.
On Monday we spent most of the day at our hotel, relaxing at the pool. The kiddie pool was only 1 foot deep so even Micaela could sit up and enjoy it. Riley went down a waterslide for the first time and it was hilarious. All the kids were doing it so she really wanted to try, but she REALLY doesn't like to get her face wet. I went first to show her there was nothing to be afraid of (but quickly realized it was pretty fast and this might not go well) then waited at the bottom to catch her. Somehow she got turned around and ended up shooting off the slide head first on her back. No idea how she managed that. I thought she would be very upset but she was happy she tried it...but didn't go back.
That evening we went to "Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party." The park closed at 7 pm so only Halloween guests were in the park. Most people dressed up, the kids got to trick-or-treat and the lines for rides were short. We all had a great time. We even rode the Haunted Mansion. I wasn't sure what Riley would think but it was one of my favorite rides when I visited (in 1987) so I wanted to try. She and Chad were both impressed and it brought back great memories for me.
