41 weeks

I'm 41 weeks old!

Hanging out with Daddy

She really enjoys these blocks that go in the box. She's not matching the shapes but does know to throw them in the big open top then pull them out again.

Except sometimes the shoes are more fun than the blocks

I don't even know how she got under here, but she did it herself.

Shoes = toys

Riley had her 9 month well-baby check on Friday and she is growing and healthy! (no surprise there). She is 27.75 inches (70th percentile) and 19 lbs 9 oz (70th percentile). So she has jumped up in weight again (she was 50th percentile at her 6 month check up). Guess she is really enjoying those solids!

I think that what surprised me the most about this doctor's visit is that she remembers the examination room (not fondly of course). While we were in the waiting room she was completely happy, watching other babies, smiling at the kids, having a great time. As soon as we went into the exam room she became very somber. The smiles stopped and I could tell she was concerned. She didn't cry until the nurse made her lay down to measure her height - then the screaming started. When she was allowed to sit back up she was fine. This happened each time we made her lay down because she is always laying down when they administer her shots. I didn't give this baby enough credit, clearly her episodic memory is functional!

Despite all the anxiety leading up to her vaccinations, she does pretty well with her shots. She only cries for a few minutes and is always happy by the time we hit the Starbucks that is just outside the office. She hasn't had any fevers or fussiness in the hours after, so its not too traumatic for her or Mommy.

As you can see from the pictures, Riley's days are full of play. And this week she has 2 new playmates! Claudia and Martin had a boy, Matthias Christopher, and Dave and Kellie Vahlsing had a girl, Kaitlyn Elizabeth, both born on Tuesday. Can't wait to meet the new friends!
