Last week Riley made her first trip to visit family in Illinois. Every year Chad recruits U of I engineers to work at Clorox, so he was working for most of the week while Riley and I were playing.

The flight out was interesting...our first rodeo. And we just couldn't catch a break. We ran into a rare headwind, so the flight was longer than usual and ended up lasting just over 4.5 hours. The pilot was expecting turbulence so we needed to remain in our seats for most of the flight. And of course it was a completely full. Riley did well for the first few hours, but understandably got bored of sitting in our laps despite the many toys we had. The seatbelt light clicked off for a few minutes and she was happy when Chad walked her around, but unfortunately they had to return to their seats again too soon. Despite a little fussing, she did really well for a 7 month old!

Our first stop was Grandpa Kelly's farm. She had a fantastic time outside, looking at the trees, digging her feet in the dirt, and playing in the grass. Many of her great Aunts and Uncles and 2nd cousins came to visit, and it was wonderful to meet all of them. Great Grandma Jean visited, too; Riley was happy to spend time with her again. Grandpa Kelly had fun showing Riley around the farm and even took her fishing (they didn't catch anything).

Then Mommy and Riley went to stay at Grandma Cathy's house. Again, we had fun meeting new people (Great Aunt Maggie and 2nd cousins Sophie and Katie) and seeing great Grandparents again. Grandma Cathy enjoyed showing Riley all the flowers and plants that she has in the yard and nature girl Riley of course loved this!
