Then we hiked through the Animal Kingdom, our first time at this park

A gorilla was lounging right by the glass

Then we rode "Kilimanjaro Safari," a very cool ride through Africa where we saw hippos

Alligators

 Giraffes

The lightest pink Pink Flamingos

 and Rhinoceros

Riley and Daddy with Mount Everest in the background

Riley and Mommy in front of the Tree of Life

Poor Micaela was exhausted by all those animals, she slept through most of the "Festival of the Lion King."

It was an amazing live show

A tired but happy family

Our second day at Walt Disney World was full of new adventures. We started off the morning at Chef Mickey's, a really great character breakfast that was located right in our hotel. This time both girls enjoyed the visits from Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Minnie and of course Mickey Mouse. This is a hot ticket and I made our reservation months in advance, before we'd even decided if we were actually going, and I understand why: it was so much fun! Probably the most excited and entertaining meal we've ever had.

After loading up on waffles, eggs, fruit and other tasty breakfast treats we headed to the Animal Kingdom. We hadn't been to this park before and weren't sure what to expect but it was right up our alley. We of hiked around "Africa" and "Asia," observed lots of animals and checked out the villages. Chad was especially impressed by the architecture of the 3rd world-looking buildings in the villages. Disney always pays close attention to details to get everything just right and this was phenomenal. We really enjoyed Kilimanjaro Safari, a truck ride that got us very close to some big animals. We also saw "Festival of the Lion King," a live show loosely based on the movie. It exceeded all expectations, it was incredible. The performers - dancers, gymnasts and singers - were all very talented and it was quite the show. We all enjoyed it, although Micaela only caught the end since she fell asleep on my back while we were walking. We're so happy that we got to experience the Animal Kingdom.
