All our snow melted so of course we had to have some more fall
My little gardeners helped prepare the seed boxes
They were very thorough
And then Riley watered them so the dirt was all ready for our seeds
No wind? No problem, we'll just harness 5-year-old energy
The next step in twin preparation is figuring out where everyone will sleep. We've decided to put Riley and Micaela in one room together. We had thought about having them share a room even before we found out twins were on the way, we thought it would be nice for them. Now this makes even more sense. Our plan was to buy 2 full bunk beds so that in a few years when they wanted to separate they would each have a nice big bed. However, just a little time at The Lullaby Shop completely changed our minds. We knew that Riley was old and responsible enough to climb up to and sleep on the top bunk. What we hadn't considered was that just because Micaela would be sleeping on the bottom bunk it didn't mean she would stay there. She quickly climbed up to the top bunk, jumped around, and looked way too far over the rail. So the new plan is 2 twin beds that are bunkable so that in a few years, when Micaela is old enough, if we want to give them more floor space we can bunk the beds then.
The girls are excited about having twin siblings. There is a set of boy-girl twins in Riley's class with whom she is very good friends and right away said she wanted a girl and a boy to name Magot and Bob. However, recently Riley has changed her mind and now wants 2 girls who we will name Anna and Elsa, the princesses from Frozen. Micaela however is sticking with Bob and Margot. I'm not sure how much she understands but she likes to give hugs and kisses to the twins through my belly.
Since spring seems to be in sight this week the girls and I planted our tomato and pepper seeds. They both really enjoyed playing in the dirt and helping fill the boxes. I was impressed at how well Riley and even Micaela could place a tiny seed in the little hole. I hope we get some good seedlings to plant in our garden!
