Poor Micaela
It didn't take long before the girls stopped picking and started playing
The older girls ran down the rows
But Micaela stayed close to Mommy and ate strawberries
Riley enjoyed a few
After picking some unripe ones Micaela discovered that it was easier to "pick" strawberries from Mommy's basket

We've had a fun week playing outside...between the storms that is. The weekend weather was gorgeous so the girls got to ride in the chariot pulled by Daddy for the first time. It was very different from rides with Mommy. They went off-roading and flew through every puddle they could find. Of course, they loved it. We rode to our neighborhood park and flew a kite. Riley had been asking to do this and was happy the conditions were right. Micaela was completely amazed. Daddy can do incredible things.
On Monday the girls and I went to Cuff's Farm for strawberry picking with our playgroup. What a great morning! The weather was perfect: cloudy so it wasn't too hot but not raining. Riley had a little basket in which she added a few strawberries but was soon running down the rows with her friends. I expected to be chasing Micaela all over the field and not being able to pick many strawberries but that was definitely not the case. After her first taste she plopped down next to a plant and started picking and eating as many berries as she could find, even the white unripe ones. It didn't take long for her to realize that all the sweet ripe ones were in my basket so she started just picking out of that. They should have weighed her before and after and charged me for those berries, too! We've enjoyed chocolate strawberry tarts, strawberry jam, strawberry cupcakes, and tomorrow a strawberry pie. And of course, fresh strawberries. Delicious!
