Wed. Dec. 25, 2013 - Merry Christmas to All!

Writing letters to Santa; I'd asked Riley for weeks (months?) what she wanted and she came up with a completely different list when we wrote letters on Christmas Eve

We've been working on cookies for weeks but these are the important ones for Santa!

Our beautiful daughters ready for Christmas Eve mass

Mommy and her girls

A tradition that dates back to my childhood…opening PJ's on Christmas Eve

Spreading reindeer food on the front lawn

Daddy and the girls prepared bags of oats, raisins and sprinkles

 Micaela's turn

Riley carefully set down the plate of cookies

 Santa has arrived!

Riley was very excited to come down the stairs on Christmas morning

But the sweet big sister still helped little sister down the stairs

Yes! The safari tent she wanted!

Unbeknownst to Daddy, Santa brought a gift for the Freese Family

Xbox Kinect! (and a game for each family member)

 The tent is really fun

Although the tube can be a tight squeeze

"I smell something good in this stocking…"

 A game!

Thanks big sister Riley!"

We played with each present after it was opened

Helping big sis open her gift

Seamus did not move from the bed Santa brought him for the entire day, except when he got up so we could drag the bed closer to the fire

Goldiblox!

Both girls definitely inherited the engineering gene

The "Le Creuset" dutch oven I'd been dropping hints about

Daddy received an Xbox and the family received a Kinect….a busy afternoon for Daddy

 Our fancy dinner

Of course we had to wish Aunt Amy a Merry Christmas

They weren't chestnuts but we enjoyed roasting marshmallows by our fire

Everyone loves s'mores

Looks like our Christmas will end with a bath!

Merry Christmas everyone! We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On Christmas Eve we attended a packed children's mass. Unfortunately Micaela did not do well in the crowd and despite our best efforts she and I spent most of our time outside with the other toddlers. That evening we sprinkled reindeer food on the front yard, opened the annual matching Christmas PJ's and set out cookies and letters for Santa.

Among other requests including socks and bears, the girls had asked for a safari tent. Since "Santa" has a lot of camping experience, he was able to set it up in record time on Christmas Eve. I was awake and ready to go downstairs at 6:30 am but had to wait until 8 am when the girls finally woke up. They were exuberant when they saw all that Santa had brought. Chad and I love seeing Riley and Micalea so happy. We opened presents slowly, playing with each gift until we were ready to move on to the next one. We had a very White Christmas (seems like this will never be in doubt while we are living here) so Chad had to go out and snowblow but us girls stayed in our PJ's all day. We enjoyed an amazing dinner then made s'mores on the fire. It was a truly special day for our family. I'm so glad we have this time to relax, spend together and bond as a family.

We hope you all had a Very Merry Christmas too!

  1. Goldieblox! I THINK my sister got Selina a set but we still haven't seen my sister. Maybe she'll finally get it on Chinese New Year :P
You stay in your PJ's all day?
    What's up with the peppers?

  2. Goldieblox are awesome, Riley built through the entire story on Christmas day. It's fun!

Yep, PJs all day. We go to mass on Christmas Eve so no need to get dressed on Christmas day. We love it.

The peppers...LOL...I had bought a big bag of mini sweet peppers when we had people over for lunch before we went to the Packer game and I was trying to get rid of them before we left for IL on Dec. 26. Reindeer DEFINITELY like sweet peppers as they were gone the next morning.
