Micaela is 15 weeks old!
On Saturday we visited Ray, Erika and Jonathan at their new house
Jonathan and Riley getting their groove on
Big Ray grilled us an amazing lunch
Jonathan and Riley peeking out the window of the treehouse
Ray has always prepared us amazing feasts, this was no exception
Biking partners - these 2 have done a lot of awesome rides through the years (I've tagged along when I could, but usually couldn't keep up)
The crew eating outside on a gorgeous March day
Riley, Chad, Jen, Micaela and Ray
Our hosts, Ray and Erika
Tuesday we went to San Francisco to enjoy some of our favorite places one last time. Micaela's first time on BART.
Daddy and Riley waiting for our train. Somehow, we didn't take any pictures in the city, oops.
K.C., a friend from my lab in Davis, visited with her son Luke
Luke and Riley had a great time playing together
Later we had dinner with our friends Cris and Jim. Jim works at Mountain Hardware and got us some really nice winter hats. We'll definitely put those to good use!
We had a great evening with Irene, our good friend and favorite babysitter.
Micaela is getting excellent head control. She rolled over right after I took this picture.
On Thursday we drove to Monterey to visit the beach and aquarium
Scenic family pic!
Riley loved chasing the pigeons
The west coast is so beautiful
And rocky
We ate lunch at Bubba Gumps...I love the boat in which Riley's meal was served
Hello Mr. Starfish
Micaela's first visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium
Micaela really loves to look at everything
The rainbow trout were her favorite
Riley's favorite exhibit was a little room in which a wave would crash over the glass walls and ceiling. She got excited every single time.
Getting interactive in the splash pools
Although its a giant clam shell, Riley thought she was in a shark's mouth
The jellyfish are still my favorite exhibit
I could watch these forever!
Monterey Bay is an amazing aquarium with fantastic exhibits and a lot of interactive learning tools for kids. We spent the entire afternoon there and it was so fun.
What a week! We accomplished most of our move work last week so we were able to spend this week with friends and visiting our favorite local places. One day we took the train into SF for a little shopping and sightseeing. I will really miss Blue Bottle mochas and the Vietnamese sandwiches from Out the Door. Something tells me that Riley will find an acceptable substitute for her favorite Cowgirl Creamery grilled cheese sandwich in WI. Thursday we drove south to Monterey to spend a little time on the beach and to see the aquarium again. What a fantastic place. Chad and I love looking at all the fish and animals and Riley has a blast at all the kids exhibits. Micaela is along for the ride, taking it all in.
I have to brag about our girls, they have been amazing during all these little trips and visits. Some of them are not necessarily fun for kids and most of them last for hours, always longer than we intend. Riley almost never complains and is so well-behaved. Micaela is really happy and looks around at everything and everyone, then falls asleep. I feel so lucky that we can do all of these things with kids in tow and share the experiences as a family.
We really enjoyed relaxing with friends, catching up on their lives and seeing how big their kids have grown. We have met some really great people out here and have a lot of close friends. Another reason to feel lucky is all of our wonderful friends. Its definitely been difficult to say goodbye to everyone but we have shared some wonderful times.
